I always love to display the cards, invitations, and announcements that we receive throughout the year. Renee and I had made a clothespin holder a few years ago that I used for quite awhile, but I was looking for something new. Last year for Christmas cards we used the Merry Mail sign that I made; however, it was pretty seasonal (and the spot where it hung has since been replaced with something else).

Year-Round Card Display

After our unexpected remodel, we had an opening on one of the walls because we moved the piano into the front room. I had been looking for something to put on the wall and when I saw these Display Bars from Minted I knew they were perfect. It was something that I could install permanently on the wall to show off all the different cards we received throughout the year, and it was a piece that would look great whether there were a handful of cards on it, or if it was full. The bars come in 2 colors – Gold & Brass, and 3 sizes – 3′, 4′, and 5′. Our wall was just over 5.5′ long, so we opted for two of the 3′ and one of the 4′ bars for our display.

At the end of each year (well, more like mid January because I like to leave Christmas cards up for a while), I take the entire year of cards and put them together into these books. It is fun to look back from past years and see how families have grown.

At this point, we only have a handful of cards on the display. Since I just got the display bars a month or so ago, many of the cards we received throughout the year are in our “mail bin” so I’ll have to dig through it before making the card books for the year.

I can’t wait until we have more Christmas cards arriving to start filling up this display. Now that we’re past Thanksgiving I’m sure that they will start filling our mailbox. Do you display the cards you receive throughout the year?
